Chef Designs Big and Tall Chef Coats and Shirts

There are two different problems on this page and they need two different answers. Wider is the easy one: the eight and ten pearl button coats, the black coats and the cook shirts all run to 4XL, and several go to 5XL, so a rack can be dressed from one line rather than from three suppliers. Longer is the one that is usually ignored. A coat cut only wider gives a cook with a long reach a sleeve that stops short of the wrist, which is exactly where a burn happens when you reach into an oven.

That is what the tall run is for. On the eight pearl button coat and on the long cook shirt the tall sizes add length in the body and the sleeve at the same letter, so the cuff still sits at the wrist and the shirt still holds in an apron waistband at the end of a shift. If you are between the standard and the tall run, the deciding measurement is not your height but your sleeve: measure from the shoulder seam of a coat that fits you to the wrist bone, and buy the run that covers it.
